Lipoma Arborescens of the Knee-A Case Report-



Abstract
Lipoma arborescens is a rare disease, characterized by an intraarticular fatty villo nodular proliferation, with causes the pain, effusion and swelling of the affected joint, almost aljways found in theknee. Stout defined it as a collection of
fat
beneatyh the synovial lining forming swollen villous projections. The gross appearance resembles diffuse pigmentless villonodular synovitis. There are two deviations, one posttraumatic and one of natural evolution.
The etiology is still undetermined and it has been called a benign tumor, a tuberculous infection, a sequela of trauma, and a generalized systemic chronic synovitis.
The authors have experienced and report a case of this disease, involved the left side knee joint, that has never been reported in Korea previously.
